If a prospective home buyer is not impressed with the look of your home from the street, they may never venture inside. Look at the overall color of the house. Is it in keeping with other homes in the neighborhood? Do some areas such as the front door, shutters, trim, railings and the garage door need repainting or staining? The lawn should be mowed and the edges neat. Trim shurbs, especially around windows, and prune any trees that need it. No dead plants should be in evidence. Plant additional flowers or shurbs if they are needed. Use planters or pots of flowering plants near the front door, and use a welcoming bench or chairs if possible. Don't use plastic flowers or chairs!! Power wash the porch, deck and stairs so that they look fresh and clean. Remove all toys, sports items, trash cans and law equipment from view. Windows should sparkle!!
