About Us
Kay McWhirter Interiors is located in Birmingham, Alabama, and serves the Greater Birmingham/Hoover Metro Area. Kay is the owner and has been a Birmingham resident for 34 years.
Kay started her career in education where she taught Business Education courses and was Technology Specialist for one of the largest high schools in the state. In 1998, Kay decided to pursue one of her life-long passions – interior decorating. She completed a degree in Interior Design from Southern Institute School of Design in Birmingham and launched into a decorating career.
Kay saw a need for home stagers to work with home owners and realtors in the Birmingham area and expanded her business to include Staging Birmingham. She is a graduate of the professional home staging program taught by internationally recognized home staging expert Debra Gould—The Staging Diva. Debra’s company, Six Elements, has staged hundreds of homes ranging in price from $190,000 to $1.5 million. She is constantly in the media. With this professional training, Kay not only brings the observant eyes of a home stager to a project, but also the creative eyes of an interior decorator.
In her spare time, Kay pursues another passion--antiques. She has several friends who also like antiques, and they spend many pleasurable hours roaming through antique shops, estate sales, and yard sales.
Kay's professional background will be put to work for you! Her passion and love for design will be evident in her decorating business as well as her home staging business.
